Great Blue Heron

The Great Blue Heron is a large wading bird found throughout North and South  America. These long legged and long necked birds can measure anywhere form 91-137 cm from head to tail with a wingspan of 167-201 cm. They are adaptable and can live near  fresh water or saltwater marshes and can live up to 17 years.

If you hear a croaking sound approaching it is most likely a heron. I have seen these graceful birds at   George C Reifel SanctuaryBlackie Spit and Boundary Bay.
