The expanding palm oil industry, which is the major cause of deforestation in the heart of Borneo and Kalimantan is the cause for confrontations between man and Orangutans, who share 92% of our DNA. In the wild, a baby orangutan will be by its mother’s side for approximately 6 years. It takes anywhere from 4 to 10 years to rehabilitate one of these orphans, to teach them how to be orangutans, socialize, build nests and find food.
